For (the) Love (of): Art Books!

I am very fortunate to be a part of a creative household. I love Matagi – not only is he funny as hell, and smart, and a good father – he is a talented artist and designer. Though I wish we had more free time, the part of me that is Capricorn-ing secretly loves that he works as hard as he does.

I am very fortunate to be a part of a creative household. I love Matagi – not only is he funny as hell, and smart, and a good father – he is a talented artist and designer. Though I wish we had more free time, the part of me that is Capricorn-ing secretly loves that he works as hard as he does.

I love design books, too. So, for his graduation, I gave him these:

500 Silver Jewelry Designs: The Powerful Allure of a Precious Metal (500 Series)""

500 Necklaces: Contemporary Interpretations of a Timeless Form (500 Series)

1000 Rings: Inspiring Adornments for the Hand (500 Series)

The books are gorgeous – and all of the works are produced by contemporary artists contributing from all over the world.

I also gave him two reference books:

Jewelry: Fundamentals of Metalsmithing (Jewelry Crafts)

The author, Tim McCreight is a well-known and well-respected teacher and artist among metalsmiths.

The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques

I am glad Matagi likes these books, and that he can use them to refer to for his work. I know I am finding them inspiring – and they are also helping me to more deeply understand his process.
