Prompt for Death: What must I accept and surrender to at this time?

This draws feels both personal and collective. It totally makes sense that I paused the April Fool’s Journey readings just after I did the prompt for Hanged Man and pulled Death. Now I am at the Prompt for Death and pulled the Hanged Man! Synchronicity?

The Dark Night of the Soul and the Point of No Return

Hanged Man says we are in a Dark Night of the Soul. During this time of disorientation, there must be a surrendering of both disbelief and belief. While we are “upside down” and left hanging, a restructuring of our reality is happening in macro and micro levels.

We are thrust into the position of seeing the world in a new way – and to integrate that vision requires risk, vulnerability, and patience. This is the point of complete metamorphosis where all structures are being dissolved.  Temporary sacrifice of the ego is both freeing and terrifying, yet it eventually gives way to clarity of the choices offered in the Seven of Cups.

Seven of Cups reflects our emotional past, present and future. Our transformation depends on how we frame our perspective. We can choose to see that life is working out for our greatest good, even when things are not going as we wish.

The definition of metamorphosis is, “a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.” This period of surrender may be one of grief as we accept there is no going back to what once was. As our hearts break, we are confronted with endless emotional potentials.

If we try to cling to the comfort of what we knew, even if it no longer works for us, we risk melodrama, co-dependence, and addiction. Seven of Cups is showing us there is a higher path of emotional, spiritual, and psychological growth. Golden cups in golden clouds symbolize the opportunity for higher levels of emotional understanding, intelligence, and experience. However, the possibilities can only become reality through our own careful choices, diligence, and trust.

The option to either evolve or devolve during this (seeming) pause is up to us. Neither choice is comfortable. Which path will you take?
