Wednesday Writing Prompt 30 – How do you say Delight?

Prompt

“Sin ought to be something exquisite, my dear boy.” ~ Émile Zola

On Writing

Breathe the sentence in. Exhale the sentence. Inhale and exhale each word. Now inhale and exhale the sentence. Then, go!

There is only one rule, keep your hand moving.

Don’t worry about grammar, spelling, or punctuation. If you feel stuck, keep writing anyway. Try going back to the prompt and write it out until other words arise, then write those—or, repeat the last word you wrote again and again until new words appear—or, write, “I am stuck,” or “I can’t think of anything,” as long as you keep your hand moving. Writing is physical, the words will move through your body and come out of your hand—just keep it moving.

Now go – for five, ten, fifteen minutes . .

(when you are done, feel free to share your work in the comments – or share on your own blog)

  1. I couldn’t NOT NOT share this, Holly! “Sin ought to be something exquisite, my dear boy.” ~ Émile Zola

Oh yes! Embrace is a word. Unapologetic is a word. No Shame is two words. Emile Zola’s quote is all that and so much more.

    1. Yes! It just seems like people get worried about such silly things – might as well make it sumptuous, you know??

Thanks for sharing (I tried to comment, but wordpress is not recognizing me – so weird. I can’t log in)

      1. That’s twice today I’ve heard on the inability to comment. Some glitch is up I bet.

Yes, make it sumptuous you know?? Yes for sure! Forbidden Fruit? Nah, Whole Foods doesn’t sell Shame Fruit. They sell Passion Fruit. I’ll take my Philosophy and Psychology clues for my thought-queue from their produce department stock, not the “crowd control” silly thoughts of religion or its counterpart Karma in the spiritual world. SO many things to tell us to stay out of trouble. Yup, I get in trouble with Nature when I go off trail a full 40% of the time, though Nature doesn’t shame me for it. 🙂

  2. If you’re going to sin might as well make it exquisite 💞 mindful writing through focusing on breathing is good, let the source of your words come from your conscious state, keep the hand moving is a great rule 💝🌟🙏 Faux

  3. “Sin ought to be something exquisite,” why yes… Yes it should! But is it any more exquisite than cos or tan? I don’t know… Have I gone off at a tangent? Hmmm… Plato says “No…”. Plato says” Writing is the geometry of the soul”.

    1. WOW! What voices!

The woman in the front/middle is one of my bestie’s – Christine. She is my mountain bike partner. Alas, she has moved a bit further away (still in AZ) – and since Covid – I haven’t seen her since last fall!
