Power of Relationships (Conscious and Unconscious)

When we think about relationships, we usually think about how we relate to our friends, family, and significant other(s). We have connection with everything around us. What would happen if you took the time to notice the connectedness in your life?

Do you consider that you also have relationship with/to:

  • the cashier at the grocery store
  • other drivers/cyclists/pedestrians
  • co-workers/clients
  • your pets
  • animals in general
  • plants
  • food
  • nature
  • money
  • your home/environment
  • your community
  • government
  • yourself

Take the time to pay attention for a few days to one or two of these relationships. What do you notice? Do you like your interactions? Do these relationships have meaning to you? Would you like them to have meaning? Do you receive pleasure from your relationships? Are your relationships respectful? What is the power dynamic? Are there any relationships that you would like to deepen? Where would you like to have more or less engagement? Do you experience equal give and take? Where do you need boundaries? Where can you push boundaries? Is there more room for creative connection?

The second chakra is about the power of relationships and our right to feel. Below are quotes that relate to the second chakra.

“We live in a world where joy and empathy and pleasure are all around us, there for the noticing.” ~ Ira Glass

“At the Chelsea [hotel], it was a pretty smart move to accept a painting in lieu of rent. The real question is — why in America is that no longer possible?” ~ Joe MacNeil, Make America Bohemian Again

“But I don’t believe that life is supposed to make you feel good, or to make you feel miserable either. Life is just supposed to make you feel.”  ~ Gloria Naylor

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
― Jim Rohn

The most alarming of all man’s assaults upon the environment is the contamination of air, earth, rivers, and sea with dangerous and even lethal materials. This pollution is for the most part irrecoverable; the chain of evil it initiates not only in the world that must support life but in living tissues is for the most part irreversible. In this now universal contamination of the environment, chemicals are the sinister and little-recognized partners of radiation in changing the very nature of the world — the very nature of its life. — Rachel Carson

Soul Surrender

the-dells-2016-holly-troy

Just as there are times on a winding walk when you can not the see the road ahead, so too will you lose visibility on your soul’s unfolding. . . If you can find solace in your surrendering to that groundlessness, there is a pleasure possible in this depth of not-knowing, where creativity can use you as a vessel and, for a moment, you can know real freedom in your acquiescence to the numinous. – Toko-pa

“Come in from the cold, into your inner oasis; your treasure island. There’s a fountain of youth there. It’s the well that never runs dry; the gift that keeps on giving. There’s no fear, sadness or suffering there, only love, creativity and gratitude! It’s the center of the youniverse, the source of light, your eternal home where you were never born and will never die.”  ~ Geordie Numata, Deer Spirit Reiki

“What goes on in your mind?” – Lou Reed

You must have a room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you don’t know what was in the newspapers that morning, you don’t know who your friends are, you don’t know what you owe anybody, you don’t know what anybody owes to you. This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be. This is the place of creative incubation. At first you may find that nothing happens there. But if you have a sacred place and use it, something eventually will happen. – Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth

“Genius is nothing more or less than childhood recaptured at will.” ~ Baudelaire

I don’t believe scientific, personal or artistic breakthroughs of any kind happen because a person thought about it. It’s because they learned how to escape the mind and tap into a larger sense of intelligence. Eureka moments come when we are inspired — and that does not take place in the mind, nor by being consumed with thoughts of anxiety, fear, or worry. They come from developing a relationship with your own inner Observer and distancing from the noise and static in your head so that you can hear your own soul’s longing to talk to you. – Jewel

“Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations. ” ~ Mae Jemison

It’s the colonization of the mind. Once we colonized other countries for profit and spoils, extracting foreign resources, and draining the value from the lives of others. Now corporations have colonized our heads. They are reorganizing the way that we think and rewiring our neural pathways so we can never get back to where we came from. Our consumption is our consent.Anhoni

“But there is no Plan B and the bubble, it turns out, is where we have been living all the while. The bubble is that delusion of isolation under which we have laboured for so long. “I’m very fond of Jesus Christ. He may be the most beautiful guy who walked the face of this earth. Any guy who says ‘Blessed are the poor. Blessed are the meek’ has got to be a figure of unparalleled generosity and insight and madness…A man who declared himself to stand among the thieves, the prostitutes and the homeless. More importantly, how are you resonating with yourself, your loved ones, and the planet?
