Love, Forgiveness, and Creativity will Prevail ~ Anahata

Words from the Heart Chakra:

“Did you really think that fear, hatred, violence and control freaks could achieve victory over love, forgiveness and creativity!?”Geordie Numata, Deer Spirit Reiki

john-lennon-quote“If I knew where the good songs came from, I’d go there more often.”  ~ Leonard Cohen

“I’m very fond of Jesus Christ. He may be the most beautiful guy who walked the face of this earth. Any guy who says ‘Blessed are the poor. Blessed are the meek’ has got to be a figure of unparalleled generosity and insight and madness…A man who declared himself to stand among the thieves, the prostitutes and the homeless. His position cannot be comprehended. It is an inhuman generosity. A generosity that would overthrow the world if it was embraced because nothing would weather that compassion . . .” – Leonard Cohen

now that you’re all grown up, who is your tribe?

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Jim Rohn

When we are growing up, most of us do not have a choice about whom we spend our time with until we start making friends in school. We are surrounded and influenced by our families and/or caretakers. (Some people would argue that we do choose our families before we are born, and maybe that will work for this post as well. Whatever you believe is fine).

my buddy, TigerThink about the five people (human or animal or vegetable) you spend the most time with right now. Who are they? Do you deliberately spend time with them? Are they your loved ones? What about the people you work with? Do you have children? Basically, what is your relationship with these people? Are your relationships satisfying, inspiring, and vibrant? What is your choice in having these relationships – do you feel you have one?

List ten qualities that you like about each of the five people you spend the most time with. List ten qualities you don’t like. Is there a pattern? Can you see yourself as a mirror to these people, and vice versa? Do any of the immediate five people in your life inspire you? Do any of the relationships drain you? Is there anything you’d like to change about the dynamics of your relationships? Are there any people you’d like to spend more time with? Less time with? Is it possible to make subtle shifts to allow new people into your sphere of influence?

If you’d like to look back at your childhood, you may also do this same exercise with your family. What ten qualities did you like about the people in your life then, what ten qualities did you not like? Are the dynamics of your early sphere of influence affecting your current sphere of influence?

Who do you wish to surround yourself with? What do you imagine their qualities to be? Are they qualities you already possess, or qualities you aspire to have? What kinds of steps can you take in order to make those changes?

I’d love to hear your responses – feel free to comment!

Namaste,

Holly

Meditation on Waking

Born on a Thursday #10

I love to sleep. I love coming out of sleep slowly, and I love to write the minute I wake up.

For years, I had the practice of writing my dreams in the morning as soon as I awoke. I fell out of the habit over the last few years. I decided to begin practicing again this week.

This week I feel more alive, relaxed, and present than I have in a long time.

Yesterday, with the New Moon in Aries, I dreamed these words upon waking: I can wake however I wish.

vein
imperceptible pulse of evolution

Some of the ways in which I wish to wake:

I wish to wake peacefully, gently.
I wish to wake smiling.
I wish to wake softly.
I wish to wake when I am ready to wake.
I wish to wake taking my time.
I wish to wake laughing.
I wish to wake wisely.
I wish to wake refreshed.
I wish to wake without pain.
I wish to wake knowing that my unconsciousness was not a waste of time.
I wish to wake without feeling ashamed, angry, or frustrated.
I wish to wake looking forward to the day.
I wish to wake in a different cliche: near an open window with white linen curtain—outside soft blue sky meets turquoise ocean.
I wish to wake to the smell of clean moisture.
I wish to wake outside on my balcony after spending the night moon bathing. (I wish I had a balcony to wake on).
I wish to wake before dawn while the stars are still out.
I wish to wake lazily at noon after a long journey.
I wish to wake (if I ever wake there again) in the Amazon jungle with my mosquito netting intact.
I wish to wake to the bell for satsung.
I wish to wake full of ideas and the will and resources to execute them.
I wish to wake feeling unconditional love.
I wish to wake calm and prepared.
I wish to wake with enthusiasm.
I wish to wake remembering my dreams.
I wish to wake with gratitude.
I wish to wake.
I wish to wake.
I wish to wake.

How do you wish to wake?

Thanks for reading.

Peace,

Holly

Anahata Chakra ~ Breathing the World

I am in the middle of an online session of Writing the Energetic Body. We are diving into the heart chakra.

Chakra 4: Anahata ~ Love • Peace • The Pure Sound of Creation • The Right to Love • Air

The 4th chakra is the core of our entire energy system, the fulcrum between the material world and the spiritual world. Its element is air; its principle is balance. In order to live, we need to breathe. When we take the time to pay attention to our breath, we invite our bodies to relax and our spirits to gently be known.

The heart is where we discover our emotional nature in relation to ourselves alone. (It is here where we also realize that Self, really is the whole world. As I inhale and exhale, I exchange the air with everything that inhales and exhales—you, animals, plants, etc.) In the big picture, nature is always balancing itself Bringing it back down to ourselves (knowing that we are connected), we must at some point ask ourselves, “How do I achieve balance in my life?”

The heart takes the passion of the first three chakras and moves it to a place of compassion. It takes raw energy and refines it, softens it, gives it an anchor.

Second Chakra Flier . . . Old School

Second Chakra of Writing the Energetic Body™

at Temple of the Divine Mother – above Sacred Rites
4 North San Francisco Street ~ Flagstaff, AZ
Tuesday evenings ~ 6pm to 8 pm

The space at the temple is full of good vibes.

November 30th: 2nd Chakra – This is where we experience the power of relationships. We will explore pleasure, sexuality, emotions, and the desire to create.

My intention for Writing the Energetic Body™ is to explore coping with change, healing, and taking responsibility for our selves, our society, and our planet, through creativity and the creative process.

Writing the Energetic Body™ will use the major chakra system as the “backbone” for self-exploration through writing. Creative visualization, gentle yoga asana and movement, sound, sensory stimulation, collage and writing prompts designed to “wake up” specific chakras will inspire a series of timed writings and creative excavation.

As a participant, you will:

  • compassionately and creatively observe your Self
  • uncover hidden impulses, stories, and patterns in your life
  • awaken the body/mind
  • utilize the breath for presence in the moment
  • deepen and expand your creative vision

Each week, we will focus on the issues of one chakra. It is not necessary to take every chakra consecutively.

Dates for upcoming sessions:

December 7th: 3rd Chakra – This is where we gain our sense of personal identity, power, and will. Who are you? What is your purpose?

December 14th: 4th Chakra – We will open to compassion, self-acceptance, and love.

Holidays!

January 4th: 5th Chakra – We will look at clear communication, self-expression, creativity and “Divine Will”.  What happens when you speak your Truth?

January 11th: 6th Chakra – We will explore perception, clarity of vision, and psychic ability. How do you see the world? How does intuition and imagination expand your life experience?

January 18th: 7th Chakra – How do we understand the world? What is our connection to Higher Power? We will look at thought as the seed of manifestation and how the energy of this “ethereal” chakra can be brought “down to earth”.

At the end of each class, attendees will be guided through a final relaxation meditation.

No writing workshop or yoga experience required. I promise, I am gentle.

Although it can be fun and enlightening, it is not necessary to share your writings!

Materials: a favorite pen, water, a yoga mat, and comfortable clothing.

Cost: $25.00 a session plus a one-time $5.00 non-refundable materials fee. (If you need a journal, the materials fee is $18.00. The journals I offer are hard-cover and durable – perfect for the work we’ll be doing).

disturbed (fragment)

It disturbs me even thinking about it. I don’t embarrass easily, but this was such a disaster. The sound of one hand clapping.

Sometimes I think about performing, all the performing I’ve done, and I know I have been carrying out someone else’s vision. And as I write that I think, bull! I interpreted someone else’s work, and I was good at it. Yeah. Not that I had no voice. It disturbs me to think I have no voice now. No imagination.

Oh. That’s horribly disturbing, the idea, the knowledge that my imagination is being sucked dry. Is sucked dry.

Where do I nurture the well?

Being married disturbs me. Being alive often disturbs me.

I think our new neighbors downstairs are going to disturb me.
