Music Monday – Summertime Memories

It was the summer of 1982. It was my friend Laura’s birthday. She had a slumber party. We were in love with Duran Duran. We drank sodas and stayed up all night to catch every Duran Duran video VH1 and MTV played – Laura had a schedule.

It was our first all-nighter!

With caffeine and sugar coursing through our jittery pre-pubescent bodies, we played Space Invaders between videos and declared who we loved most from the band. That week I was in love with Simon LeBon, before Simon it was John Taylor, later it would be Nick, and then back to John. They were all so beautiful – how could a girl choose just one?

I have to admit, while watching these videos, I fell in love with Simon again, then John. Oh boy! I love them all. (I often saw John in night clubs in the east village, he is very tall and still beautiful).

To celebrate Laura’s birthday, summertime, youth, and romance (check out the new-Romantic look the band sport in the video Planet Earth), I’m enjoying Duran Duran.

Duran Duran have an official video page. Check it out! They have put out a lot of music since the early 80s – worth a gander.
