Consciousness. Cracking open the world so that what once was can no longer be and always is. Just a brighter vision and a deeper darkness – an indelible pressing of fingers, lips, forehead. An indelible inkling of something more.
Consciousness, widespread and underlying. Under. Over. I feel myself almost wrapped around a rock, just wanting to send love and hold on to it. I am not falling, I am acknowledging. I am in a physical body; my body can hold the consciousness that expands outward to the cosmos. My body can express the cosmos. My body expresses and collects consciousness – from everything it experiences.
Also, remember to be kind to yourself, have courage, and be open to the world.
The only reason that we don’t open our hearts and minds to other people is that they trigger confusion in us that we don’t feel brave enough or sane enough to deal with. To the degree that we look clearly and compassionately at ourselves, we feel confident and fearless about looking into someone else’s eyes. – Pema Chodron
This month’s challenge is a practice that I have been doing on and off since last May. I can tell you that when my practice is consistent, transformation happens with ease. I also know that when things get moving in my life, I tend to get lax on the practices that make my days go a little more smoothly. So, I am bringing this one back into my life and am sharing it with you because it’s a lovely practice.
Tonight, for the Solstice and energy for the next six weeks, I pulled the Ace of Cups (from the Tarot of the Moon Garden deck). It was the perfect card for everything we discussed today, and the energy of this Solstice, which for me feels very Neptunian and dreamy and full of vast potential. The Ace of Cups is about symbolism and subtlety, depth of emotion, dreams, fantasy and imagination, and access to a sense of happiness, satisfaction and self-acceptance. Being in alignment with winter energy, where growth occurs underground, the opportunity that the Ace of Cups presents is inward, extensive, heartfelt, and below the surface. (For someone with four planets in Scorpio, I say, “Yes!”)
Happy Holidays! Life is good and sweet and full of potential. Remember to do something you love every day.
What’s the best thing to do when you can barely think and the weather is crappy and you’re visiting your mom who is a smoker and you are not? Look through boxes of stuff to see what you can find. I’ve been looking for two things mainly — old vocal exercise tapes with my coach Don Lawrence and videos of my performances. I found neither of those things. I did find one box with artwork and journals that have moldered and mice have made nests of, LPs that Chewie the pet rabbit has been snacking on, and, (redemption!) photos that are in pristine condition of my band The Halfbreeds!
Reposting this from Writing the Energetic Body: I found a post with a graphic about writing and it’s effects on the brain. One of my favorite bytes is what it says about writing and stress: Writing can have similar effects on the mind as meditation. Your breathing slows down and you get into a “zone” […]
