Born on a Thursday #4 – This Pie is Skewed

This pie is skewed. I was thinking about a conversation I’d had about a decade ago with a man whom  I experienced as intelligent, generous, and open-minded. He was an ecological activist who was working diligently for water conservation and clean water laws; he came to a few goddess performance rituals I took part in; […]

Born on a Thursday #3: Yin in Yang

This week the Sun is moving into Pisces, and Mercury and Mars are already there. On top of that there is all kinds of Neptunian energy making itself known in the cosmos. I don’t know if it’s the planets, but I do know that I have been needing extra sleep , and I’ve been dreaming so much that even when I’m awake I even feel like I’m dreaming!

Anne Ortelee urged her readers to ask themselves these questions this week while Pisces energy floods our collective cosmic condition (I haven’t asked myself these questions yet – but they are good – and I will):

What do you believe? What have you come here for? What are you driven to express? What do you use to ground yourself when the ocean around you feels too unruly? What must you remember? What do you wish to forget? What will you release to have drift away into the Ocean of Pisces energy swirling around you? What do you wish would jump into your boat adrift on the sea of your life?

My next online writing class begins on the Pisces New Moon (March 11th)

Writing the Energetic Body – Shedding Inhibition and Divining Your Intentions – 28 Days of Writing Past the Mind and into the Chakras

New Moon in Pisces, Monday March 11, 2013 starts the next class!

New Moon is the time to plant intentions — combine that with fertile Pisces ruled by numinous Neptune and this is sure to be a very abundantly creative session.

We will begin the session with an intention setting ritual and start our exploration at the crown chakra and work our way down to the root, the earth, our place of manifestation.

Get ready to explore possibility, make (re)discoveries, release inhibition, and develop a writing practice.

Born on a Thursday #1

I’ve decided that every Thursday I am going to post something. I was born on a Thursday – hence the names of my Thursday posts – Born on a Thursday. Maybe I’ll turn it into a blog of it’s own, but for now, this is where I’m putting my Thursday musings.

These posts are inspired by artist Charles Kurre, who I met recently on a jaunt out to Scottsdale to look at art. (Coincidentally, it was a Thursday when I met Charles). His art is playful and frenetic – and certainly worth a look—or better yet, a purchase. Check out his blog It Happens Every Tuesday.

Also, poet, adventurer, and teacher Maya Stein puts out a poem every week called Ten-Line Tuesday. She rode her bicycle from Massachusetts to Wisconsin towing along a typewriter for writing adventures with anyone who was willing to type a line or more. She called her journey Type Rider. She even rode her bike through Clinton, NJ – one of my hometown hangout places.

I walked to work today. I’ll ride my bike tomorrow. One of the great things about walking is seeing what you miss while driving. And thinking. I get flooded with ideas when I walk and ride.

Invitation to Write Past the Mind and into the Chakras

Often, to write powerfully, even if only for ourselves, we have to move past what we “think” we should write. Have you ever asked yourself what your fears are about writing?

You don’t have to share your work with anyone, but if you are “dying” to tell a story and are afraid, chances are there is a part of you that is suffering for not letting it out.

Are you ready to let go of your intellectual understanding of what is “socially acceptable writing” and allow yourself to really say what you need to say?
Are you ready to let writing move through your body, into your energetic being, and trust what it’s saying to you?
Are you ready to release memories (or make up new ones), blocks, and sticky spots?
Are you ready for non-judgmental feedback, compassionate communication, and encouragement?

Shedding Inhibition and Divining Your Intentions – with me

A new session of Writing the Energetic Body online is scheduled for the end of this month. I am constantly updating material so there will be new video instruction as well as a slightly new format for this next version. I’ve even made a new website/blog that focuses just on the classes — Writing the Energetic Body. I will be offering live workshops at my studio very soon.

The next four-week session begins on the Full Moon ~ January 27, 2013 to February 23, 2013

Writing the Energetic Body – 4 Week Online Course
Shedding Inhibition and Divining Your Intentions Workshop – 28 Days of Writing Past the Mind and into the Chakras

Allow your inner-critic to relax, have fun writing, and recieve encouragement and feedback while exploring your chakras.

For this workshop we start from the Crown and work our way down to the Root. You’re encouraged to set an intention at the beginning of the session and to give thanks for the abundance that is already in your life. The Crown is about Ideas, Spirit, Divine Inspiration. The Root is about Manifestation.

Writing the Energetic Body will use the major chakra system as the “backbone” for self-exploration through writing.

Participants will:

compassionately and creatively observe the Self
uncover hidden impulses, stories, and life patterns
awaken the body/mind
utilize the breath for presence in the moment
deepen and expand creative vision
loosen up and strengthen fluid writing
There is no need to “know” anything about the chakra system, our bodies physically and energetically hold information, and by freely writing we can tap into that knowledge.

Participants will receive daily writing prompts designed to stimulate a specific chakra for the given day in their in-boxes. They will spend 30 minutes only on the given prompt. They will return their responses via email to me. Participants will also have the chance to upload their work to a private blog site to share and to give and receive feedback from other participants.

I will personally respond to your work via email.

As an added bonus, participants also receive either written, audio, or video instruction for movement, meditation, or breath work that will deepen the prompt for the day. Participants may use the additional instruction however they choose—and it is theirs to refer to whenever they like.
