“The Nature of Loss and Love: A Magickal Message from Robert Alvarez, the Psychic Witch: Friday, January 28, 2011…”

“The difference between Ritual and routine is Mindfulness.”

Another message from my friend Robert Alvarez – and perfect timing, too! I was having a very bad day this morning, but his message helped to turn my attitude around.

As I write these particular lines, I am truly most thankful for a beautiful Birthday month. Although my Birthday is January 8, I spend the entire month celebrating it. This is a practice I have recommended to many of my clients, students and friends over the years and it works wonders in one’s life.

This week has been especially Loving, Spiritually Uplifting and Prosperous. However, this week I have been musing on a few things. Primarily, loss. Specifically, why people feel lost in the world, and why people feel like they are missing out on something (or someone, as the case may be).

I must confess that, I still do not have everything complete in my Mind. Nevertheless, when Goddess and Goddesses tell me to send out an Email, I do not consult my schedule to see if I am free! And so, here are my thoughts:

1. When we lose something (for example, a bracelet), or constantly lose or misplace something (keys, jewelry, etc.) then we are focusing on loss on a deep level. We may be nursing the loss of a relationship, a job, or a loved one. The loss may not be only through death; someone could move out of the area, the state or the country. Or, the other individual may simply want nothing more to do with us.

When we focus on loss, we are stuck in the past. Worse still, we remain there, and are not Mindful of the here and now. A simple, but powerful way to surrender and release those things and people that are no longer in our lives is to make a list and burn it (the Moon is Waning, so this is an excellent time to engage in such a Ritual). And no sooner do you burn this paper, make a new list of what you want to see in your life. For example, if you had a really great, Spiritual friend, write down his or her name on the piece of paper. After you burn it, write down on a new sheet of paper that you are open to new, Spiritually “with it” friends. Of course, you could always Affirm, “THERE IS NO LOSS IN THE UNIVERSE (or Spirit, or Goddess, or God, or Higher Power, or whatever works for you).”

2. What do you keep missing? Do you keep missing turns, trains, buses? Do you arrive just in time to see the train doors close, or to see the shop door lock? Does this happen daily? If you are constantly missing something, on some level you feel you are missing out on the good things in life (Yes, there could be other reasons, but this is the one that Goddess and Goddesses told me to write.). Ask yourself: “What am I missing out on?” It could be a very simple, seemingly mundane answer. Perhaps you are missing out on time with your friends, or with yourself. Perhaps you feel you are missing out on social activities or potential opportunities for romance. Or, perhaps you are simply missing your connection to yourSelf.

A favorite Divine Decree to declare for yourself is “INFINITE SPIRIT IS NEVER TOO LATE, AND NEVER LETS ME MISS A TRICK!” I first learned this from (the late, great) Florence Scovel Shinn in her book The Game of Life, and How to Play It, first published in 1925 (talk about an Aquarian-Blessed Visionary!). It has always worked for me, and I am clear that it can and shall work for you.

3. A few years ago, I led a series of informal classes on Ritual. Every time I created a flyer for these Classes, and every time I talked about it, I always made the same statement: “The difference between Ritual and routine is Mindfulness.” When we are Mindful, aware and present, everything becomes a Ritual, an opportunity to honor the Divine within us and without us. We enjoy life more, we accomplish more and we are more receptive to all the Peace, Health and Plenty that is our Divine Birthright and Spiritual Heritage.

Many of the recipients of this Email, as well as yours truly, live in the New York/New Jersey areas. We have been seeing a lot of snow since the weekend of Christmas, 2010. For some of us, it has been disgusting, a chore, depressing, etc. And I must confess that, for me, there have been times when it has been annoying.

However, this past Wednesday, January 26, I remember walking to the bus stop after meeting with a wonderful friend and client. I was walking up Eighth Avenue, and I happen to look up and see the snow illuminated by these lights. It looked strange to me, so I began looking at it more closely. Unbeknownst to me, I also began looking at it with my Psychic Mind and my Third Eye. There were FAIRIES dancing on the snowflakes! I had forgotten that Fairies are not just limited to Spring and Summer (as many of Them, I am sure, would like us to believe!). It was fascinating and–please pardon the pun–Spellbinding. It was Magickal and it was beautiful.

When we are focused on what we do not want, when we are focused on what and whom upset us, when we are focused on loss, lack, limitation, hard times, we do not see the Beauty, the Love, the Joy and the Prosperity that is always around us and ALWAYS available to us. Whatever situation, whatever challenge, whatever weather condition is upsetting you, depressing you, annoying you, ask it, “What is the gift you have to offer? What is the Blessing that I AM to receive once I get it? What is it that you have to teach me so that I can move forward?” Whatever you receive, know that it is a starting point…
