Day 3 – The High Priestess 

Prompt: What has my inner world been trying to tell me?

THE HIGH PRIESTESS is the archetype that connects us to the Inner Reality. When under the influence of the High Priestess, we absorb meaning through symbolic energies that communicate with our unconscious mind. This is the archetype to call on when you find yourself wanting to TRUST your psychic moments and intuitions. She represents spiritual understanding and inquiry which are implicit and inner, and as such, only knowable through individual experience. She is pictured seated between two pillars, symbolic of mercy and severity, light and shadow, yin and yang, and the ability to stand in the center of duality. I pulled the Page of Wands reversed and the Moon.

Page of Wands signals childlike curiosity in my passion for creative self-expression. Imagination is buzzing below the surface – Page wants exploration, excitement, and freedom while the Inner Child needs to feel safe to come out and play. I am on the edge of transformation (represented by the salamanders on the Page’s clothes) where there is great potential for growth (the sprouting staff) no matter the circumstances (barren landscape) – yet I need to find and act on inspiration.

Moon imparts wisdom sideways, poetically, like Emily Dickinson, Moon “tells it slant.”  It is time to allow dreams, intuition, and synchronicities guide my creative impulses. It is time to work with the subconscious mind, practicing affirmations, meditation, visualization, lucid dreaming, and stream-of-consciousness writing. It is time to plant seeds while making a path through the unknown – to get comfortable letting the wild mind surface.
