Kings and Lovers
“Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won’t adhere to any rules! The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to “honor and obey,” maybe we should swear to “aid and abet.”-Tom Robbins
The LOVERS card represents the archetypes of union, romantic love, authenticity, and choice. Often, we cannot help loving that which we love. Its just something we realize, “oh my god…I’m in love!”
Similarly, we cannot be commanded, “you should love me.” Love is an emotion that springs spontaneously from the heart and consumes our identity, transforming us from mere egos into divine beings. Look behind every major advancement in humanity’s consciousness and you will find LOVE at the core of our evolution as a species. In that light, Love IS the ultimate rebel. It inspires visionaries to break the rules and risk everything in the quest for more equality, peace, and respect in society. Love liberates us from mundanity, but it also puts us into some of the most challenging situations that life has to offer. As a quintessential human experience, Love forces us to make hard decisions about what and who we TRULY are. ~ Kayliegh Jean of Falcons and Pentacles
Day 7: What am I a loving warrior for?
Interesting that I pulled two Kings – The King of Swords and The King of Pentacles. Both represent archetypes that protect and provide for their Kingdoms and their particular strengths are gifts to the people. For me, the people are the collective, the collective consciousness, the highest good for all beings.
King of Swords represents truth, wisdom, and intellect. He is a master orator and teacher. His sovereignty is in his ability to manifest ideas, he acts on them and reaps reward. The wheat in his hands represents growth and prosperity and the oak bough over his shoulders represents a resilient will. He is a strong visionary – how he sees the world is how he commands the world.
King of Pentacles represents physicality, intuition and earthy wisdom, wealth, health, and enjoyment of the physical world. The horns on his crown are the horns of a bull, he is Taurean, sensual and fertile. He is grounded and in his body. This King values the pleasures and gifts the Earth offers – this is illustrated in the way his fingers gracefully hold his gold staff and coin – and he is surrounded by grape vines with far-reaching tendrils.
The two Kings side by side are ultimately the power of the mind/imagination to create physical reality.
I am a loving warrior for Truth, Beauty, and Creation. I love seeking knowledge through art, music, poetry, meditation, and somatic experience. I believe we are in our bodies on Earth not only to learn through physical and sensual stimuli, but that we are here to contribute to our evolution. I believe seeking knowledge is noble, and I love how taking physical action on one idea always leads to other ideas. I love that we are all creative, that we are all creators, and that it is important for us to be conscious of our creations because we create our worlds. Beauty is the thing that makes us want to live, and when we lean towards life, we lean toward Truth.
I had fairly narrow-minded views towards love all these years. Why haven’t I thunk that before? Lol.
