Music Monday – It’s not unusual to Love tom jones

I love how happy and joyful Tom Jones is. I remember watching him on TV when I was a little kid. And those dance moves – wow!

  1. H. Troy, I would never have had you down as a T. Jones fan! But it all kinda makes sense!

Some years back a friend of mine started a company supplying tee shirts for high profile concerts. They were amazed to snag Bon Jovi as their first deal and they decided (in their naive beginners way) to make up some thousand ‘Slippery When Wet’ tee shirts… and knickers! The tee shirts sold well but the underwear was not so popular (?!). Later that year they secured a Tom Jones gig and on top of some TJ shirts that wondered if he would be interested in the knickers at a cut rate – their thinking was that once upon a time fans had been rumoured to throw such garments onto the stage for Tom – it was an ill judged thought: TJ’s manager at the time was his son and he was apparently horrified at the idea telling them that, “We’re trying to lose that aspect of Tom’s past. Would you be able to supply us with ironing board covers or tea towels?” !! True story.

Needless to say, the boxes of knickers remained in their workshop for many years and were often brought out as ‘comedy’ presents for friends for many Christmases!

      1. Yes, he’s a judge. Regal Presence Sir Thomas Jones. He’s like 79-81 now? He looks mid to late 60s at most. He’s quite a character. Focus and joy yes,and he’s also intensely and naturally composed. Regal is a word, and not stuffy at all. Tom Jones just gets better with age.
