working with found media

I hadn’t made much art in 2024, but as soon as the calendar flipped to 2025, I was ready. I mapped out this painting last summer. I did not begin to lay down paint until the new year. 

Since the pandemic, I’ve been working with cardboard. It’s a different way to work, the texture of cardboard has bigger variations than canvas. I handle cardboard media similarly to the way in which I treat canvas. The pieces are sized with clear gesso and finished with a thin coat of damar UV-protective varnish to protect them from the sun.
