Art and Space and Time
Last Spring I surrendered home and studio . . .
Even though I know building projects can take more time than estimated, the renovation has taken far longer than anticipated even beyond patient reason. The house has been languishing.
Life feels surreal as I am in a different place every few weeks. I haven’t painted since March. I’m grateful for wonderful friends – otherwise homelessness would be a problem.
There is not much more news to give regarding my studio – just that I am not there and don’t have the money to rent one. No painting. Life’s adventures continue. I’ve finished Part One of the Forbidden/Sacred Words. I am practicing deep patience, gratitude, and trust.
When I get back to the paintings I had been working on – the work will be a testimony to time travel. The time between the layers informs everything.

Start where you are
Since 2021, I’ve moved house every few months. I have a base where I land, but I can’t stay still there. Though beautiful, sometimes the place is too isolating for me — I need culture and community. I get to feeling a little too closed in. There is also the fact that the space is seasonal and not optimal for living year-round. In the winter, while there, I live in ski pants and winter jackets indoors.
Currently, my nomadic lifestyle takes me around the Hudson Valley, occasionally to New York City, and to the Southwestern United States. It depends on where my gigs take me.
Sometimes I can work on art while I am moving around. This month, I took some of my studio with me so I could paint while working away from home.
Green is everywhere. It’s the last month of summer, every day the grasses and the leaves are shifting from deep green toward yellow and gold.
Change is visible. It feels like anything can happen.
Summer is almost over.
