3rd Chakra Say . . .

“YOU’VE GOT IT! IF YOU DON’T WANT TO PLAY, TELL A JOKE OR DANCE, BUT IN ANY CASE, YOU GOT IT! (TO A DRUMMER WHO DIDN’T WANT TO SOLO).” – Thelonious Monk

“What a weary time those years were — to have the desire and the need to live but not the ability.” ― Charles Bukowski, Ham on Rye

“Death will claim no man until his time has come, and nothing will save a man who is fated to die. Therefore be bold: to die in fear is the worst death of all.” – Elizabeth Hand, Available Dark

3rd Chakra – This is where we gain our sense of personal identity, power, and will. Who are you? What is your purpose?

The 3rd Chakra really has to do with our personal identity and will. Who are we? What is our purpose? Huge development of the third chakra occurs from 18 to 42 months. We probably can remember going through a big surge in our teens, and then again, around age 35 we start to wonder what our purpose in life is. This can be a frightening time or it can be empowering. At 35 or so, we have wisdom behind us. If we can harness the FIRE of our youth and combine it with wisdom, we have a chance of being effective with our purpose.

I like to read – a lot. As I’ve been studying the chakras for a long time, and since I teach writing classes based on the chakras, sometimes I find myself thinking, “That’s a quote that goes along with such-and-such chakra.” So, I’ev begun collecting quotes that coincide with the chakras.

Quotes for the 3rd Chakra:

“I don’t give a damn about my bad reputation.” —Joan Jett

“Isn’t it exciting!?” — Rama Jyoti Vernon

‎”You can say anything you want, yes sir, but it’s the words that sing, they soar and descend…I bow to them…I love them, I cling to them, I run them down, I bite them, I melt them…I love words so much…Everything exists in words.” ~Pablo Neruda

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” -Alice Walker

“YOU’VE GOT TO DIG IT TO DIG IT, YOU DIG?” – Thelonious Monk
