When we think about relationships, we usually think about how we relate to our friends, family, and significant other(s). We have connection with everything around us. What would happen if you took the time to notice the connectedness in your life?
Do you consider that you also have relationship with/to:
- the cashier at the grocery store
- other drivers/cyclists/pedestrians
- your pets
- animals in general
- your home/environment
- your community
Take the time to pay attention for a few days to one or two of these relationships. What do you notice? Do you like your interactions? Do these relationships have meaning to you? Would you like them to have meaning? Do you receive pleasure from your relationships? Are your relationships respectful? What is the power dynamic? Are there any relationships that you would like to deepen? Where would you like to have more or less engagement? Do you experience equal give and take? Where do you need boundaries? Where can you push boundaries? Is there more room for creative connection?
The second chakra is about the power of relationships and our right to feel. Below are quotes that relate to the second chakra.
“We live in a world where joy and empathy and pleasure are all around us, there for the noticing.” ~ Ira Glass
“When peoples care for you and cry for you, they can straighten out your soul” – Langston Hughes
“At the Chelsea [hotel], it was a pretty smart move to accept a painting in lieu of rent. The real question is — why in America is that no longer possible?” ~ Joe MacNeil, Make America Bohemian Again
“But I don’t believe that life is supposed to make you feel good, or to make you feel miserable either. Life is just supposed to make you feel.” ~ Gloria Naylor
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
― Jim Rohn
The most alarming of all man’s assaults upon the environment is the contamination of air, earth, rivers, and sea with dangerous and even lethal materials. This pollution is for the most part irrecoverable; the chain of evil it initiates not only in the world that must support life but in living tissues is for the most part irreversible. In this now universal contamination of the environment, chemicals are the sinister and little-recognized partners of radiation in changing the very nature of the world — the very nature of its life. — Rachel Carson
