Dismantled Thing # 7: Empathy for the Devil

When was the last time you experienced true wild abandon?

When was the last time you surrendered to the animal part of yourself, dropped all your imaginary shackles and howled with freedom?

When did you last notice the air on your skin?

I had been pressing and playing with new colors, and then, I thought, feels like Empathy for the Devil to me.

This came about after a friend sent a Rolling Stones video from Rock-n-Roll circus. I watched, mesmerized, realizing I hadn’t seen that kind of abandon in music in a very long time. And, of course, I miss people. I miss getting together with musicians from other bands and making music.

I'm a rock-n-roller poet who left the Big Apple for the Big Sky Desert where I've been letting it be and grooving with universal love, singing to the gods, dancing with the muses and bicycling with dreamtime messengers. I like altering my reality through imagination, movement, breath, and makin' stuff.

  1. We (in the US) don’t hear much about how intense the lockdown is in England. Though, oh, how do you tell a “general” story about what is happening? I heard a personal story about a young man in England walking in the woods and being tracked down by the police and sent back home or be arrested. Nobody was out. That has got to be so hard. This was not on the news, it was through a friend.

    This whole thing is hard.

I am grateful that for now, I can still go outside and walk in the woods (I live practically in the forest). I am grateful I can get together with my band mates and practice outside.

In the meantime – stay healthy! Be well.
