Late Summer Making

Start where you are

Since 2021, I’ve moved house every few months. I have a base where I land, but I can’t stay still there. Though beautiful, sometimes the place is too isolating for me — I need culture and community. I get to feeling a little too closed in. There is also the fact that the space is seasonal and not optimal for living year-round. In the winter, while there, I live in ski pants and winter jackets indoors.

Currently, my nomadic lifestyle takes me around the Hudson Valley, occasionally to New York City, and to the Southwestern United States. It depends on where my gigs take me.

Sometimes I can work on art while I am moving around. This month, I took some of my studio with me so I could paint while working away from home.

Green is everywhere. It’s the last month of summer, every day the grasses and the leaves are shifting from deep green toward yellow and gold.

Change is visible. It feels like anything can happen.

Summer is almost over.
