May 2020 – Isolation Song 20 – Morning of my Life

Morning of my Life – Barry Gibb

Paul and I learned another new (old) song. This one is early Bee Gees. really sweet.

We hope you are doing great.

Life is weird.

I’m doing my best to embrace it.

Sometimes it feels like we are “building castles on the shifting sands.” Foundations slipping away?

After humanity walks through this global rite of passage, what do we want our world to be? I’ve been asking myself that question a lot lately.

Lots of love!

Holly

Paul and I have no idea when our next gig is – all gigs have been canceled. We make our living through gigs. We will continue to play no matter what.

If you enjoy our playing, consider buying us a coffee (see links below), sending a tip through venmo or paypal, and/or, sharing, liking, and commenting on this post or the video – it all helps. ❤

  1. “Sometimes it feels like we are ‘building castles on the shifting sands.’ Foundations slipping away?” Yes! And, as an Architect, sand is THE most stable foundation substrate.

“After humanity walks through this global rite of passage, what do we want our world to be? I’ve been asking myself that question a lot lately.” There is a sanctuary built in a great question. And, you just built one there. That’s a strong foundation in a question, like a Rock of Gibraltar standing still and wonderful unmoved though fully present in the shifting oceans of the sands of now. At least there’s no hourglass anxiety drip?

I think you two just built a foundation in the shifting sands right there at the end in your discussion. I felt the nerves, though I gotta say COOL. So the eff what! “It’s kind of a strange time.” “In difficulty lies opportunity.” Yes! You guys just put forth a robust perspective and built the first form to pour a foundation there with those two expressions. Excellent perspective on that with this video.

NamaSTAY to your course. You two build value. That’s important. I felt you should hear that. Actually, let me back that up. That’s almost the ONLY important thing. And, you two are doing it.

Question: What’s the name of the Holly & Paul “fell into it, though it’s happening now” band comprised of Holly & Paul? Hmmm? Anyone, anyone? It feels like you’ve taken the 1st step, and later there might be 3 bands composed of your two previous + You two?

Just what you did in this video provides a perspective for many, and I resonate with that. It’s not a perspective of aiming small and hitting the target, and then lie back and chill. It’s much bigger than that, and consequently maybe even less of a hassle? Please keep doing what you’re doing. I for one when I can will support. I know too well how self-employment/gig work carries difficulties in itself beyond even the work itself.

I have to say that Mr… what’s his name? Hmmm. I have a new fave. Mr. ___ has to come in a close 2nd now. That said, I feel a reverse cover album. Not succeeding and THEN doing a rockin’ cover album. Doing a rockin’ and resonant cover album 1st! You see, I feel that, for example, Bon Jovi up to current is cool n all (not as cool as Queensryche, Sarah McLaughlin, Beethoven, or Trent Reznor or Phantogram — should’ be put Phantogram 1st), THOUGH… Runaway. Listen to the song “Runaway” early on, and there’s some epic song writing, musical stuffs.

Ok. My internal comment editor just queued my to take a breath and just pause. She’s smart. Because, this video gave me pause.

I’m really glad to have connected with you guys. Look for some more coffee soon. You deserve it.

    1. Oh, Jordan, than you so much. I read these comments before I fell asleep last night. So kind. I am glad we have connected, too. Thanks for the encouragement!

Now, back to work on a long post that a friend has challenged me to create – and finally, I will get to review your work – which I find stimulating and exciting and thought-provoking. Basically, what this blog platform/social media thing is supposed to be about – inspiring one another without necessarily having to go through the channels of mainstream corporate approval, etc. etc. etc.

  2. And, I will clarify from a Geotechnical Report (Soils Report) perspective. “ Yes! And, as an Architect, sand is THE most stable foundation substrate.”

Below grade, below the shifting sands on the surface lies one of the most stable forces on the planet, Very fluid, without much plasticity, and just. Simply. Supports. Whatever is above it. Like, forever, all the time.

I don’t intend to box you into the metaphor, though it’s like Jung would express, “You have a throat issue? Ok, what can’t you swallow.” “You have a stomach issue? What can’t you stomach?” “You have intestinal issues? Ok, what’s so long in the past that you can’t fathom it anymore, and consequently can’t digest it?

I only harp into those examples as you two brought up shifting sands in a way that felt similar, AND that you were directly addressing through the song AND the interchange after.

Big :)’s I see bigger things, over time. Especially, because YOU TWO are TAKING the steps up to the Temple, and stopping to feel the perspective at EVERY step. Yup, can feel like a hassle at times. And, also it can feel like NamaSTAY your course, You guys are like a Roc of Gibraltar in these changing-faster-than-we-are-accustomed-to times.

I’ll come to my pause here.
1 Inspect your Expectations. You guys are certainly doing that.
    2. No matter how many steps to the top of the mountain/Temple/etc, your AWARE perspective at EACH step is what amends the soil to grow into the next one.

Ok, I’ve kinda had a positive Rantra here, and I’ll exhale and stop. LOL. 🙂

You guys effin inspired this ya know? It’s all your fault. Completely. Maybe it’s ALWAYS your fault, as your just that powerful. :))))) Please keep up the great work!

  3. Well, I guess I WASN’T finished, and you Guys deserve this:

Back in 2002, I was presenting to the Cherry Creek North Design Review Committee for my 1st project out of the gate starting my architectural firm. At the end of the meeting prior to their voting, the President raised his hand to pause the impending vote, and, leaning across the room, “So, Jordan. You’re starting a firm in a downturn. I guess if you can make it now, you can make it anytime?”

I smiled. Big Abrazos big, head and shoulders heaving raising up, and responded “Nice, subtle attempt at controlling to check my fear. Ninja level. That’s fair. I value that. Thank you. Solid question. Thank you. (I paused, looked down, took a breath, and) You do know that Apple, Google, and Amazon were started in downturns? Maybe you’ve heard of them?”

Effin silence. “Touché, Jordan. I have. Shall we vote?” I had basically instituted my Defiant Fucker Part with grace to stick to my guns and duck his comment so it never evolved to be a deflating barb, to a unanimous vote of ‘yes.’

I express this to you two as… I had just received Commercial Remodel of the Year 2 years prior from THEM with the previous firm I was with + another organization for or a Retail project in their jurisdiction, when I was more known for Residential work. This is not an example to sing my praises.

This is an example congruent with what you guys are doing now. More than sticking to your guns, more than publicly displaying grace while you are doing something you love. I felt your nerves of uncertainty, and as well your “play anyway” vibe.

That makes the world a better place for all the rest of us. Thank you.

I say, “toot you’re own horn. Somebody’s gotta start the band.” Fuck manifestation. The work you are doing deserves it! :-)))))))))))
