APril Fool’s Journey (into) 2021: TemperAnce

Prompt for Temperance:  How to balance my paradoxes?

Wheel of Fortune and Six of Cups

How appropriate! Wheel of Fortune can signal a time when we experience repetition of patterns in our life cycle. Without having consciousness of our beliefs and behaviors and their effects on the pattern, we can feel out of control, or like a situation keeps happening to us. We may find ourselves saying, “Why does this always happen to me?” Ready or not, whether we perceive the turn of the wheel as good or bad, the cycle through the pattern initiates growth and a  new phase of life. If we hang onto the edge of the wheel, we can get thrown off, but if allow this turning to be an opportunity for an inner journey, we can move toward the hub, a place of stillness.

Six of Cups can bring up feelings of longing for a dream from the past, but rather than wallowing in nostalgia for the fantasy, or the newly “in love” feeling that was so beautiful and irrevocably lost, there is a sense of calm. We find the purity of the past vision, the purity of feelings of potential, is crystalized in our experience. Our inner child self is always with us — in the past, present, and future.

How do I temper my paradoxes?

I temper my paradoxes by understanding the wheel is always in motion, change is life. I can decide my response, and, to an extent, my direction, by turning toward my fate. My inner source is at the hub of the wheel, and when I stand back and observe the spin, I can choose to meet my fate with childlike curiosity, play, and open-heartedness. Rather than clinging to my place on the edge of the wheel, I can ride new life cycles with wonder, willingness, and grace.

          1. It seems like it would be nice to float along on the river of my dreams. But I would surely get bored. A certain amount of chaos and dissonance seems necessary. White water or approaching falls would liven things up a bit.

                1. I’m always her to help. But I don’t think you have the least bit of trouble. You seem to look for the fun side of life, as well. We’ve dealt with enough bad over the years that looking for the good things in life is so much more satisfying.
