What are you a “yes” for?

“You are always a yes for something.” Gabrielle Bernstein

I am grateful I am in a position where I feel I can say yes to feeling good. Even when I was a runaway teen, homeless, living in an abandoned building in no-man’s land on the Lower East Side, I understood it was important to keep my spirits up. One of the most basic things I did every day was bathe, even though I didn’t have a toilet. I had a 5-gallon bucket, I brought it to Tompkins Square Park every night, filled it with water from the water fountain, and carried it east – three avenue blocks to Avenue D, and had a bath. No matter how cold it was. Water, a facecloth, and Dr. Bronners peppermint soap were keys to my humanity. For me, feeling clean was a priority. And so, I took the action to be clean.

One of the many lessons from that time was that of the gossamer threads of feeling, of yes to life, of being courageous in loving ourselves even when the world seems very dark. Over time, weaving threads of feeling good, feeling love (no matter how thin), leads to a happier, more courageous life. It’s also important to remember, to be reminded, that feeling good is important – which is why I deliberately focus on being conscious with my inspirations and desires. Sometimes I don’t feel good, so I have the reminders and the actions that help me from straying too far in a downward spiral. It’s all a process, and, not necessarily linear. Each day is a chance to feel something, to do something, to be inspired, to be human.

Inspiration Breeds Inspiration

What are you a yes for?

(My five minutes stream of consciousness reply to Day 3 of Gabby Bernstein’s 21-Day Manifesting Challenge)

I am a yes for fun, communication, ease, joy! I am a yes for music, singing, and dancing. I am a yes for artistry, kindness, love. I am a yes for curiosity, prosperity, friendship. I am a yes for female power, for human power. I am a yes for color, strength boldness. I am a yes for ease. I am a yes for community, beauty, mother nature. I am a yes for happiness. I am a yes for skill, mind, body, spirit. Body and soul. I am a yes for bicycles. I am yes for the forest, mountain biking, travel. I am a yes for learning and teaching. I am a yes for miracles. I am a yes for poetry and literature — I am reading BOOKS this year. I am a yes for money coming my way — easily, effortlessly, joyfully, artfully.  I am a yes for the Lofi Sofias having a rocking good time.  I am a yes for play, for playing, for improving little by little.  I am a yes for putting positivity in the collective pool of consciousness. I am a yes for sending love onto my past self — I love you young Holly. I am a yes for beauty. I am a yes for open communication.  I am a yes for pleasure, love, sensuality. I am a yes for becoming better with age. I am a yes for being a role model. I am a yes for feeling strong in my body, for having confidence and grace. I am a yes for yes. yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Feeling creative, feeling prosperous, feeling love, feeling loved, feeling happy, feeling fulfilled, feeling ready to rock ‘n’ roll, feeling ready to yoga, feeling feeling feeling, yes yes yes yes yes yes, feeling poetic, feeling prolific, feeling creative — oh yes oh yes oh yes, feeling inspired.

Now, you try.
What are you a yes for?
What is one small action you can take today toward your yes?

Got my ski pants on and ready to play outside! Then play my guitar! Awkward Happy Dance into 2021.

Peace and love,
