Haute Tarot – Creative Expression of the Cards

Tarot as Muse

Italian designer and creative director at Christian Dior SE, Maria Grazia Chiuri based the spring-summer 2021 collection on the major arcana of the tarot.  Ecxerpt from the Wild Hunt, Dior Unveils a magical mix of fashion and tarot:

For the 2021 collection, Chiuri wanted to go further into the theme of self-exploration, and more specifically the rejection of a binary world. Chiuri told The Guardian that “there is one school of thought that says tarot cards are about the future, but the point of view that fascinates me says that they help you to learn about yourself.”

Chiuri is not oblivious to the pandemic’s impact either, citing it as the reason she looked to the magic of the tarot. “What was nice for me about the tarot,” Chiuri told Runway Vogue, “is that when you are in a difficult moment, something that is magical can help us, to help us think better.

“It’s a long time we’ve all been staying alone,” she added. “You think much more about many aspects of yourself and your life. That’s my belief: this year changed us a lot.”

The use of tarot has a rich history with Christian Dior. Its eponymous founder “discovered tarot in the Second World War, when his sister Catherine, who was part of the French Resistance, disappeared,” according to Chiuri. “In my view, I think he was so scared about her situation that he probably went to the tarot cards to try to know some more, to hope that she would come back. I think he was very worried; trying to find hope in some signs.”

The company noted on Facebook that the collection also “also alludes to Monsieur Dior’s own strong beliefs in divination – he regularly consulted with his trusted clairvoyant, Madame Delahaye – and emblems such as his lucky star remain House codes today.”

Chiuri went on to tell Reuters that tarot “can help you not to be afraid of something you don’t know.”

Directed by Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone, we see a young woman travel through the doorways of her psyche, and along the journey meets various archetypes from the major arcana. Along the way, the anima and animus of her persona meet face-to-face and she is transformed.

Tarot readings – all the rage!

The tarot is a tool for tapping into the innate psychic ability we all possess. It uses archetypal imagery to spark our minds for opening to the collective consciousness and to filter what we need to know in the moment. Tarot readings help a person clarify a particular situation based on past, current, and future responses to events. In other words, it is a way to learn about the self.

I offer tarot readings via Zoom. While tarot can seem mysterious, it can be a practical instrument for getting to the heart of an issue.

My approach is grounded, relaxing, and down-to-earth. (You can see an example of a reading I did last summer here.)

I use the archetypal messages in the cards to intuitively and compassionately reveal psychological, emotional, creative and physical potentials to your given situation. Possibilities are there – the choice is always yours. In addition, I provide guidance based on the phase of the moon and how astrological energies may be utilized to enhance your given circumstance or desired goal(s) and outcome(s).

I like altering my reality through imagination, movement, breath, and makin' stuff.
