So much transition – it’s hard to keep up with myself!
New Digs
Coming back home to New York
I’ve decided to stay on the east coast. So that means – gulp – I am going to become a New York resident again. After years and years of trying to shape myself and breathe easily in northern Arizona, a culture that was way too conservative for my happiness, I’ve moved back east. Of course, being near mom is a huge impetus as well — but realistically — my peeps are here.
After fifteen years of feeling like I didn’t quite fit in, of feeling pushed out (of jobs, social circles, bands), I finally stopped trying.
I give up. No more loneliness. I’m going home.
And literally, I am home. I am living in a little cottage next to my mom for now. I get to see her everyday, to help care for her. And, I am also in New York City at times, getting reacquainted with the music, literary, and arts scenes. New York is changed due to the pandemic, but then so is the entire world. I know I am not the only one going through massive transformation!
Even so, I have been going through radical changes for a long long while. I feel like I am becoming more myself, if that is possible. Like I am finally coming to a place where I get to be me, not the person other people tell me I should be. Nope! Been there, done that. And yet, it’s a constant unveiling.
Visual Art
New Studio
As I have accepted I am here, I am slowly creating space for myself to make visual art. It’s taking time to get in a groove. It’s taking time to carve out space. And, it’s coming along.
As I rearrange the cottage, work is emerging. Slowly. But soon, I will have a studio set up!
I made this the other day out of scraps of materials I had in my supplies that I brought with me from Arizona.
Mixed media College, approx 6″ x 16″
And this painting (in the background) will be finished before I know it. It began in 2006 – and now it is completely transforming . . .
More will be revealed.
Art for Sale
Slowly I have been connecting with galleries here in New York. Until I decide to have representation, this page is where you can find works for sale.
Modeling
I’m hoping to be modeling for artists again, starting in the spring. I’m also looking into modeling online. More to come . . .
