Plum Doodle 356
from April 16, 2025 – journal fragment . . .
Dreaming. Living in a recurring dream place. Mattresses. I’m fine for a while. Eventually more mattresses arrive — and with them, people.
I have to move.
I’m living on a leather couch by a swimming pool at a wealthy couple’s home. They are “older” – but not really – we are nearly the same age. They may be in their 60s. Boomers. They are laughing and drinking wine on a platform on the opposite side of the pool from where I am. Perfect teeth, perfect cashmere sweaters lightly draped over their shoulders. They could be in a commercial – enjoying the happy ease of wearing the perfect adult diapers while simultaneously looking too healthy to actually need them.
The weather is pleasant. Warm. Dry.
My couch is surrounded by a fence for privacy. My friend JJ comes for a visit. She stays on the other side of the couch. It’s a sectional. She asks me how things are going.
I cry.
“I should have never left. I can’t get my footing here. I’m so sad. I was living in one place, and then I left. And now I keep moving. It’s so discombobulating. I don’t know where I am going . . . “

I often use scribbles as the genesis for a painting. These squiggles carry energy for me, and on their own, they tell a story. I call them plums because they are little treats for my imagination. I will continue adding to this project until I have reached 10,000 drawings.
John S. Hall’s 10,000 Poems Project inspired me – but rather than writing – I decided to collect my drawings. Sometimes I write when I doodle, and sometimes I share the writing as well.

I feel like I need to apologize honestly,I received a message from Source that I essentially needed to “back off” and I realized like yeah, me saying that’s none of my fucking business technically – I just feel that need to check on people for lack of a better word but fully realize each individual’s life (and all the associated issues) is uniquely complex in it’s own way, so I apologize if that was overly invasive.

Oh – no need to apologize. You didn’t cross a line. The world is crazy right now – I think it’s kind to check in.
I mean – on some levels we are all ok, we are all love right? But then, on another level – wow – this really is a time we need to watch out for one another.
Today I am doing great. Finished a painting – almost done with a couple more – and more importantly I’m excited to do the work.
Also, thanks for the video. It made me smile. And! It reminded me that I promised myself after Covid I would take dance lessons – and I haven’t done that. So that is a goal for myself.
How are you?

I’m doing well, I started another painting I was going to put up later – I meant to ask what medium you’re using on cardboard (I’m mainly used to oil paint now, but did a similar experiment on drywall using acrylic paint) – and I though so… once again, women prove to be smarter than men lmao (in my defense this was my 20’s)

I use oil on cardboard. The trick is to gesso the cardboard on both sides. Sizing Both sides keeps the cardboard from curling
I use clear gesso. Gesso will give the surface some tooth while ensuring painting is archival (to an extent – the painting will last more than a lifetime even on cardboard if it’s kept properly)

Also, you’re welcome! I do my best to try and make people smile even when shit’s unbelievably un-cool. I generally don’t think there’s any reason to be un-cool to each other
