Bravo! H. Troy.
Do you prime the card? I’m curious as the oils seem so rich and the cardboard…so por/ous.
Very interesting work x

Hi! Usually, I would prime – but not in this case. It’s been interesting to watch the oil spread a bit on the cardboard – I’ve been playing with that as part of the design. I’ve used these sticks on paper without priming – and they still hold up after 25 years.
I have been varnishing all the cardboard pieces once they are dry with a Windsor and Newton Varnish that has UV protection. It’s been taking 10 days to 2 weeks for them to dry, so yes, I’d say the oil is pretty rich. It’s been moist here lately! I’ll have another batch coming, but will need to wait till they dry.
Thanks! It’s been good to break out of what I was doing with the canvas. I’ll get back to that – I have four pieces in the works – but haven’t felt like the time is right to push those (and, my studio is cold).
I hope you are doing great! x

Hm, thanks.
Started a gloss varnish on something today! I have to hide it away from myself for the next week or so as I’m a bugger for prodding!
Yarp, all good. x
ps – Love W&N!

It’s so hard not to “prod”! I also sniff – lol.
Can’t wait to see your work when it’s ready.
🙂 HT
PS: W&N pricey but worth it. It’s the little things

Oh, sniffing is frowned upon?!
I have trouble letting go. Maybe that’s a varnish issue, too?
ps: Well, we’re worth it.
