Music Monday – Antony and the Johnsons

Back in the 90s, everyone in the East Village was trying to make something of themselves. Anohni and I were servers at Yaffa Cafe – we both had our projects. Anohni was part of a performance project called Black Lips and Antony and the Johnsons. I’d been to Black Lips a few times, but never saw Antony and the Johnsons.

What a time it was.

Check them out. It’s worth clicking on the videos that take you to youtube – the music is stark and lovely.

    1. I was a brunch server there! (And then at Cafe 9 for a while, about a month at Sidewalk Cafe, and then for a long while at the Pink Pony). 🙂

Yaffa is no longer there – though Cafe Orlin is still around
