End table morning
I wake, late!
oh! I need to help!
And then
I remember . . .
And it’s not that there aren’t so many things to do – it’s that the nature of the things are
not quick-quick-life-and-death, the nature of things are
now-it’s-happened-post-death-slow-dance.
Make-the-move-and-wait action.
Fill-out-the-paperwork action.
Do-the-taxes action.
Be-on-hold-with-the-bank action.
Insulate-the-house action.
Ensure-the-chimney-sweep-is-coming action.
Call-the-electrician action.
Figure-out-making-a-living action.
My heart
beat erratic
the last few weeks of her life.
64 beats per minute, 108 beats per minute, 85 beats per minute
Change.
All-encompassing:
physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, environmentally.
This morning:
wake up,
assess what needs to be done,
stretch,
inch toward tasks.
