long road / with no time

I love this – written by my friend, poet and dancer, Julie Spodek. (Check out Julie’s Instagram) I have asked her if I can make this a song.

long road
with no time.

your shunned black tongue
down’d you on earth
down’d you in flowers
down’d you in starlight
down’d you in fire

brightest and deafening light
searing blinding unsayable light
untouchable light

touched by light
breathed by light
born by light
filled in light

in light

mothery dog lay down’d in that road
in water
in branches
in bones…
asking for stars ….
for different heavens down’d on earth
the longing road
crashing heavens
down’d you in rain
clouded hues
spilling all over mothery dog
lay down
lay down in his nest with all lost children
you ask in thousands of voices flying like sharp birds thorn’d.
scratch’d.
burn’d.
struck’d.
you ask for stars …
for different heavens ..
where no trees grow
mothery dog lay down in his nest
in branches and water and bones

[ the book of ghost song ]
[ongoing reiterations]
“… with all lost children ….
who
now
live
forever …
in
lost
souls
asking for stars …..
asking for different heavens ..

thousands of voices

songs of the atmosphere
songs shimmer the air
crash the stars
fall the skies ..

screaming the air ..

to scream
you asked only for a long long road..

you asked for a long road
again

and again
a long road
with no time.

your shunned black tongue
down’d you on earth
down’d you in flowers
down’d you in starlight
down’d you in fire

brightest and deafening light
searing blinding unsayable light
untouchable light

touched by light
breathed by light
born by light
filled in light

in light

mothery dog lay down’d in that road
in water
in branches
in bones…
asking for stars ….
for different heavens down’d on earth
the longing road
crashing heavens
down’d you in rain
clouded hues
spilling all over mothery dog
lay down
lay down in his nest with all lost children
you ask in thousands of voices flying like sharp birds thorn’d.
scratch’d.
burn’d.
struck’d.
you ask for stars …
for different heavens ..
where no trees grow
mothery dog lay down in his nest
in branches and water and bones

I'm a rock-n-roller poet who left the Big Apple for the Big Sky Desert where I've been letting it be and grooving with universal love, singing to the gods, dancing with the muses and bicycling with dreamtime messengers. I like altering my reality through imagination, movement, breath, and makin' stuff.

  1. A beautiful poem that your friend should be congratulated on – bravo!
It would make a song of epic-dylanesque beauty (and not just because of the fifteen verses, etc!): so it should be done by you.
    🙂
    xx
