Plum Doodles 481 and 481

journal fragment from September 22nd, 2025
First Day of Fall

Holly, what do you wanna do? What are you doing?

[I was feeling lost. My best friend gave me a pep talk. I took notes.]

  • Forbidden Words Project is taking a stand
     – Defining them
     – turning them into art
     – It’s a response to something unjust and evil
        – that is leadership
  • Sometimes the leader goes against the group.
  • Workshops are leadership.
  • Everything you put out is leadership.
     – Art and Writing – solitary action / planning / creating / then interaction and engagement
  • A lot of people trust you – because you honor their trust.
  • Leader in your family
     – you took the lead with your mom’s recovery
     – people fighting with you / grief
     – you took the lead with love
     – willingness to work things out

I taped these leaves to my journal because every year I’m surprised at how quickly fall happens.

10,000 Plum Doodles Project

I often use scribbles as the genesis for paintings. These squiggles carry energy for me, and on their own, they tell a story. I call them plums because they are little treats for my imagination. I will continue adding to this project until I have reached 10,000 drawings.

John S. Hall’s 10,000 Poems Project inspired me – but rather than writing – I decided to collect my drawings. Sometimes I write when I doodle, and sometimes I share the writing as well.
